About the Institute

The Institute of Oral Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials at the College of Dentistry, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, is dedicated to integrating oral medicine research with industrial applications. Our mission is to drive the upgrading of Taiwan’s domestic oral medical device industry while cultivating next-generation talents equipped with advanced R&D capabilities.

Our comprehensive research spans the entire spectrum of the oral medical device industry—including upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors—focusing on the following key areas:
 

• Tissue engineering, biomaterials (including 3D printing materials), and regenerative medicine.
• The application of immune-biomimetic materials in cancer therapies and oral disease treatments.
• The utilization of data science and computer programming in oral medicine research.
• Digital transformation research and practical applications within the field of oral medicine.
• Oral neuroscience.

The Institute is committed to developing innovative, globally competitive oral medical devices and clinical diagnostic techniques. We maintain close collaborations with renowned academic institutions and industry leaders both domestically and internationally. The research achievements of our faculty and students are not only published in leading international journals and presented at global conferences, but are also successfully translated into practical medical products.

In addition to foundational medical research, we actively encourage students to engage in entrepreneurial activities. We provide entrepreneurship matchmaking, mentorship resources, and assistance with patents and regulatory affairs to help students bring their innovative ideas to fruition.
